Stepping into the time machine,
yes it can be scary; we rewind to the week of October 16-21, 1960, and take a
look at what was hot, trendy and a gas. Many have the misconception that the
60s was an era dominated by beatniks and hippies, but this is not so for the
beginning of the 1960s. The start of the 60s was more of a reflection of the
1950s lifestyle.
Cost of living:
- Average yearly income $5,200
- Gallon of gas $0.25
- Loaf of bread $0.20
The hot fashion trend for women
was the “bouffant” dress and demur style of Jacqueline Kennedy. Men wore suits
with tailored jackets. Hairstyles for men were a crew cut and for women the
flip bouffant. Topping the U.S. Billboard Charts was “Save The Last Dance For
Me,” by The Drifters.
I hope that you enjoyed a brief
rewind in time. Have an amazing weekend!
